Flower Pot with Lid SET | Antique Silver

Flower Pot with Lid SET | Antique Silver

$110.00

A pair of lidded pots in copper finished to antique silver, one 8.25 inches tall and one 6.25 inches, each banded top and bottom with a twisted rope moulding and engraved with a floral panel between. The lids lift off, so they work as covered containers or, without the lids, as narrow vases.

Product details

  • Tall pot with lid: 8.25 inches high, 3.5 inches across
  • Short pot with lid: 6.25 inches high, 3 inches across

Sold as a set of two. The pots are straight-sided cylinders rather than tapered, so they hold more than their footprint suggests.

Why this one

  • They come with lids, which almost nothing else in the range does. That makes them useful for things you would rather not look at — dry fruit, jewellery, odds and ends.
  • Two heights that group properly. 8.25 and 6.25 inches, so they read as a pair rather than two of the same thing.
  • Rope-twist banding. A twisted moulding runs round the top and the bottom of each pot, framing the engraved panel between.
  • 980 g for the set (approx. 2.2 lb). They sit solidly and the lids seat properly rather than rattling.

Gifting

Lidded pots are a good gift precisely because the recipient decides what they are for. The set suits a housewarming or griha pravesh, a wedding and Diwali, and it photographs well enough that people tend to put it somewhere visible. Plain packaging with no price on it. Buying several sets for an event, get in touch before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Is this one pot or two?
Two, with a lid each. The price is for the set.

Do the lids seal?
They seat snugly but they are not airtight. Fine for dry fruit, nuts and supari over a few days; not a storage jar for anything that needs sealing.

Can I use them as vases?
Yes, with the lids off. They are narrow, so a few stems each rather than an arrangement.

Can I put water and fresh flowers in it?
Yes. We would use a glass or plastic liner inside if the flowers are staying more than a day or two — standing water against a plated surface will mark it eventually. Dried stems and silk flowers need no liner at all.

Can I put food in them?
Dry food such as nuts, dry fruit and supari is fine. Wipe them out after rather than leaving anything oily sitting against the finish.

Is this German silver?
Not literally, and we would rather say so plainly. German silver — also sold as nickel silver — is a copper, nickel and zinc alloy that contains no silver in it at all. This piece is copper, nickel-plated and then oxidised so the darkening settles into the recesses of the engraving. A lot of this category gets sold as German silver regardless of what is actually underneath, so it is worth knowing which you are buying.

Are the two pots the same shape?
Yes, the same cylinder and the same banding, in two heights.

How do I clean it?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not use abrasive scourers or acidic cleaners — they will cut through the plating. Between uses, store it in a sealed plastic bag; that slows tarnishing more than anything else you can do.

Will it tarnish?
Silver plating darkens over time, and the antique finish is designed to sit in the recesses and deepen the pattern as it does. That is the intended look. If you want it brighter, a light buff with a dry cloth on the raised areas will lift it.

Can I order several for an event?
Yes — get in touch before you order if you need more than a few. We can usually help on price for larger quantities and confirm stock before you commit to a date.

What if it arrives damaged?
Every order is insured. Photograph the box and the piece and contact us, and we will sort out a replacement or a refund.
