Karwa Chauth Thali Set - 12in Puja Plate, Simran or Chandni
A Karwa Chauth thali is the decorated puja plate a married woman carries through the evening of her Karwa Chauth fast. It holds the karwa (water pot), diya, roli, rice and sweets for the puja and katha, and at moonrise she looks at the moon, then at her husband, through a chalni before breaking the fast. This 12-inch thali comes in two designs: Simran, in magenta brocade with a lota and two katoris, and Chandni, in blush-pink brocade with a matching chalni.

Why this one
Each thali is covered edge to edge in brocade and finished with lace, stones and pearls, so the thali looks dressed for the evening even before the diya is lit. The stainless steel base underneath means the plate itself stays sturdy and wipes clean, and the decoration stays on the top surface.
Which one do I need
Do you already have a chalni? Choose Chandni. It comes with its own matching chalni, decorated with a pearl and rope rim to match the thali.
Do you need a karwa and small bowls for roli and rice? Choose Simran. It comes with a decorated lota for the water and two steel katoris.
Choosing by look? Simran is the bolder of the two: bright magenta, heavy gold lace and a swinging pearl fringe. Chandni is softer: blush pink, a rope border and a single flower tassel.
Where it works
On the puja chowki for the Karwa Chauth katha, carried to the terrace or balcony at moonrise, and afterwards as a puja thali for Diwali, Teej, Varalakshmi Vratam and everyday aarti.
Gifting
A thali is a traditional gift from a mother-in-law to her bahu, especially for her first Karwa Chauth. It also suits a newly married friend, a bridal trousseau, or a sargi basket.
Questions people ask
How big is it?
The thali is 12 inches across and 2 inches deep, large enough to hold a diya, the karwa, sweets and the small puja items together.
What comes in each set?
Simran comes with the thali, a decorated lota and two steel katoris. Chandni comes with the thali and a matching chalni.
Is the plate steel underneath?
Yes. The base is a stainless steel plate, and the brocade, lace and pearls are on the top surface.
Can I wash it?
Do not soak it or put it in water, because the fabric and trims are on the top. Wipe the steel underside with a damp cloth and dust the decorated side with a soft dry brush.
Can I use it every year?
Yes. Store it flat in its packaging or wrapped in a cloth so the pearls and lace are not crushed, and it will be ready for the next Karwa Chauth and for Diwali puja in between.
Will a lit diya damage it?
Place the diya on a small steel plate or in a katori rather than directly on the fabric, and keep the flame away from the lace and tassels.
Can I order more than one for a family or a group puja?
Yes. Message us with the number of sets and your date and we will tell you what we can hold.
